Chicago & the Doobies: Radio Radio

It was like visiting the radio. 70s rockers Chicago and the Doobie Brothers, both mostly still intact, led a charge of FM hits Sunday evening at the Gibson Ampitheatre. While neither has broken any new ground in the last twenty-five years, fans of a Certain Age came to hear the hits, which were delivered in droves.

The Doobies still present razor sharp harmonies, a powerful beat, and LOUD and masterful guitar work. Sometimes that’s all we really need. Chicago, now fronted by the original horn section, also sprayed out hits to the appreciative crowd, none of whom were under 45.

It’s not 1978 anymore. Not even 2008. But as we zoom forward into the post-millenium age, there are worse things than glancing back. Glancing and dancing. And then, ever forward.
