Dodgers host the Houston Astros

DODGER STADIUM—The Houston Astros are in town to face the Dodgers, the team with the best home record (19-4) and best overall record (30-14) in baseball. Should they win this evening, the Dodgers would be the first to have a home record of 20-4. Houston is 21-23. Clayton Kershaw is pitching for the Dodgers, Lucas Harrell for the Astros.

First Inning:

Top:

We had some technical issues, so we are a little late this evening. Houston, led by Jose Altuve, scored in the first inning to make it 1-0.

Bottom:

The Dodgers left Abreu and Ethier on base as they hit into a double play to end the inning. Houston 1, Dodgers 0.

Second Inning:

Top:

Chris Johnson on base with a double, but that’s it as Kershaw retires the rest of the side. Houston 1, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

James Loney out at first. A.J. Ellis walks. Dee Gordon singles up the middle. Tony Gwynn Jr. grounds out. Houston 1, Dodgers 0.

Third Inning:

Top:

J.D. Martinez scores Lowrie with a 2 run homer to the left field pavillion. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

Elian Herrera grounds to first. Abreu walks. Ethier flies out to left. Jerry Hairston flies out to short.

Fourth Inning:

Top:

Johnson hits into a double play. Snyder flies out to deep left center. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

Three up, three down. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Fifth Inning:

Top:

Altuve sends a hot one past Herrera and Gordon for a double. Lowrie grounds out. Martinez singles. Lee grounds out. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

Dodgers go down three in a row. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Sixth Inning:

Top:

Downs grounds out. Maxwell grounds out. Johnson grounds out. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

Abreu out at first. Ethier singles. Hairston singles to right. Loney hits into a double play. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Seventh Inning:

Top:

Harell caught at third. Altuve singles. Lowrie flies out. (Sorry, they put out the hot dogs. Hard to concentrate.) Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

Ellis grounds to third. Gordon grounds out to the pitcher. Pinch Hitter Adam Kennedy grounds out. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Eight Inning:

Top:

The wheels start to come off the little blue wagon. Belisario in for Kershaw. Houston puts runners on second and third. Lee caught trying to steal from third. Justin Maxwell walks. Johnson hits one right at Belisario. Houston 3, Dodgers 0.

Bottom:

Tony Gwynn grounds to second. Herrera singles. Wesley Wright in to pitch. Abreu walks. Ethier singles. Hairston walks, bringing in Herrera. Bases loaded. Fernando Abad in to pitch for Houston. Ivan DeJesus, brought in to pinch hit, strikes out. Fernando Rodriguez brought in to pitch for Houston. A. J. Ellis flies out, ending the rally. Houston 3, Dodgers 1.

Ninth Inning:

Top:

Lindblom in to pitch for the Dodgers. He puts runners on first and second with walks. Altuve strikes out. Lowrie strikes out. Houston 3, Dodgers 1.

Bottom;

Brett Myers in to pitch for Houston. Dee Gordon grounds to first. Scott van Slyke, in to pinch hit, strikes out. Gwynn singles off the ankle of pitcher Myers. Gwynn takes second on a wild pitch. Herrera strikes out, ending the game. Houston 3, Dodgers 1.
